Sunsets, sunburns, and bruised bottoms

Four days into our vacation and I've already seen some beautiful sunsets, gotten sunburned, gone wave jumping, and eaten some yummy food. The weather has been gorgeous and I hear it's going to continue being gorgeous through the weekend. We are staying in a nice little cottage on the cove. The best part is the view (the second picture in the post before this is the view from our screen porch) and the breeze. The lady that we are renting from lives here all year round, so it's mostly her stuff. That can be a little weird, but I'm grateful all the same. Something funny, the water is incredibly expensive here so yesterday my dad suggested putting toilet paper in the trash can and only flushing for number two. I immediately had Mexico flashbacks and my mom and I immediately yelled NO WAY! You aren't going to make us put toilet paper in the trash can again. It was rather amusing!!

Jake put a new sign on our grandfather's boat. He works at a sign shop back home, and he made it himself. I think it looks pretty good! There's no mistaking it's him when he's coming down the river! Jake took my two cousins and I out in Das Boat today and showed us how he can surf the waves with our whaler.... Made for some good laughs, though, my bum is sore from not having a seat cushion to land on!

One of my favorite things about going up the river or out to the ocean is being able to look back at Little Neck. There are only 168 houses on this big rock and it really is an island. There's just at two lane causeway connecting it to the rest of Ipswich. It's essentially one big hill, so one gets quite a work out when one wants to get to the other side. We even have a cop who guards the gate on the weekends, only letting those with a Little Neck pass on!

It's completely different from any place I've ever been and I wish all my friends could come up and experience the beauty of this part of New Englandl! But, not everyone can. So, I will just have to keep posting pictures and hope that you can get a small idea of what Ipswich, Mass. must really be like.

I've a good portion of every summer of my life up here.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
